Tuesday 10.11
Today students took the Quiz over Sections 4.1 and 4.2 on Passive and Active Transport. If you were absent you will need to make that up in the Testing Center when you return. For h.w. you need to complete the Elodea Online Simulation (if you didn't do it over the weekend) and notes on Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. Please download the PowerPoint Presentations and my Guided notes below. Our test over Unit 2 will be this Thursday 10.13






Thursday 10.6
Today I collected the Section 5.1 Review Questions that were h.w. last night. We went over the Absorption of Light by Pigments w.s. that students worked on in class yesterday, as well as the 4.1 and 4.2 Guided Reading w.s and the Egg Lab Analysis Questions. All of my Keys are attached below. For h.w. you need to complete the Elodea Water Simulation and answer the Analysis Questions. These need to be typed. Make sure your Data Table is in the proper format and you use a ruler. You can make it on the computer if you want. There will be a quiz next week Tuesday 10.11 over Active and Passive Transport, sections 4.1 and 4.2 in the book. Happy studying and enjoy the long weekend and beautiful weather!

Wednesday 10.5
Today I checked the 4.1 and 4.2 Guided Reading w.s. that was h.w. last night. We will go over it in class tomorrow. Students worked on the Absorption of Light by Pigments w.s. Whatever you did not finish in class is h.w. You also need to complete the back of the w.s. We went over the Introduction to Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration w.s. that students worked on in class yesterday (key attached below). For h.w. you need to read section 5.1 in the book on Energy in Living Systems and answer the Section Review Questions. These need to be typed. There will be a quiz next week Tuesday 10.11 over Active and Passive Transport, sections 4.1 and 4.2 in the book.


Tuesday 10.4
Today I collected the Egg Lab Analysis Questions and Conclusion. We went over the Microscope Lab (key attached below) and then FESSed the Quiz we took yesterday over the Microscope and Cell Structures. Students then worked on the Introduction to Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration w.s. For h.w. you need to read sections 4.1 and 4.2 in the text and complete the guided reading w.s. (attached below) There will be a quiz next week Tuesday 10.11 over Active and Passive Transport.




Monday 10.3
Today we went over the Egg Pre–lab and then did the Lab. We also took the quiz over Section 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3 on Microscopes and Cells. If you were absent, you will need to make that up in Testing Center when you get back. For h.w. you need to complete the Egg Lab Analysis Questions and Conclusion. This should be typed. Friday 9.30
Today I collected the Extra Credit Article that was optional. Then, we took notes on Section 4.1 in the book on Passive Transport and Section 4.2 on Active Transport. My PowerPoint and handout are attached below. For h.w. you need to complete the Egg Pre–Lab and study for the Quiz on Cells and Microscopes.

Wednesday 9.28
Ms. Lubecke was not in class today. The sub collected the Section 3.3 Textbook Review Questions. Students completed a Poster Project in Groups where they needed to write an analogy comparing a cell and its functions to some other entity, such as a city, school, or construction site. The only h.w. was to complete the Extra Credit Article (optional). This is due on Friday.

Tuesday 9.27
Today I collected the Microscope Lab Analysis Questions and Conclusion. We took notes over Section 3.3. on Cell Organellles. My PowerPoint and handout are attached below. We also went over the Section 3.1 Review Questions (key attached below) For h.w. you need to read Section 3.3 in the book and answer the Section Review Questions. These need to be typed. Remember, the Extra Credit Article is due this Friday 9.30.




Monday 9.26
Today students completed Part II of the Microscope Lab. You looked at and drew hair samples, onion cells, elodea cells, and cheek cells! For h.w. you need to complete the Microscope Lab Analysis Questions and Conclusion. These must be typed. Remember, the Extra Credit Article is due this Friday 9.30.

Friday 9.23
Today I checked in the microscope Pre–Lab and we went over it as a class. Then students worked on Part I of the lab. There is no h.w. over the weekend! Enjoy Homecoming!

Thursday 9.22
Today I collected the 3.2 Section Review questions that were h.w. last night. We discussed the "Immortal Thread" video (key attached below). Then we took notes over Section 3.2 on Cell Features. My PowerPoint and guided notes are below. For h.w. you need to read the Microscope Lab and answer the Pre–Lab questions. We will be doing Part I in class tomorrow.





Wednesday 9.21
I was not in class today. Students watched the last 10 minutes of the "Immortal Thread" video and then completed the w.s below on Plant and Animal Cells. For h.w. you need to read Section 3.2 in the book on Cell Features and answer the Section Review Questions. They should be typed. Remember, the Extra Credit Article is due next Friday 9.30.


Tuesday 9.20
Today I collected the Section 3.1 Review Questions that were h.w. last night. Then we watched the video, "Immortal Thread." You should have jotted down quick notes on the w.s. provided as you watched the video. For h.w. tonight you need to read over your notes and formulate your thoughts into complete ideas (sentences) for each question. We did not finish the video, so you can only answer 1 -12 on the w.s. We will watch the last 10 minutes of the video tomorrow in class. The Extra Credit Article is due next week Friday.



Monday 9.19
Today I discussed the Extra Credit Article (attached below). This is an option every Six Week Grading period and is always due the last Friday of the term. Then we F.E.S.S.ed the Unit one Test and cleaned out our binders. For h.w. you need to read Section 3.1, "Looking at Cells" and take notes. You also need to answer the Section 3.1 Review Questions (1–6) on page 54. These must be typed. Good luck!
